چکیده

Smart water flooding (SWF) is a promising enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technique due to its economic advantages. For this process, wettability alteration the most accepted controlling effect that leads increased factors (RFs). The main objective of work investigate how relative permeability curves’ interpolant affects SWF mechanisms’ assessment. Wettability described by shifting these curves in simulations. Numerical simulations core tests are applied carbonate at 114.4 °C. A comparison factor (RF), pH and effluent composition performed for different injection approaches. Mg2+ SO42? ions salinity levels range from 30 1 kppm. simulation 24 scenarios, 12 each type interpolant, presented. Results show RF changes significantly, composition, interpolant. This has relevant influence on greater dilution, smaller brine estimates. When considering as an trend divalent rich (DV) higher factor. In contrast, when DV tends have lower recovery. analysis ionic exchange variation corroborate behavior. increase was observed all regardless salinity, ion or variation. Also, monitoring CH3COO-X reduction SO4-X2 equivalent fractions indicated mechanism being well represented addition, results emphasize even very low concentrations, plays fundamental role initiating process culminates consequence smart injection.

Zeta potential in oil-water-carbonate systems and its impact on oil recovery during controlled salinity water-flooding

Laboratory experiments and field trials have shown that oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs can be increased by modifying the brine composition injected during recovery in a process termed controlled salinity water-flooding (CSW). However, CSW remains poorly understood and there is no method to predict the optimum CSW composition. This work demonstrates for the first time that improved oil r...
